BUCATO [2019]
Bucato is the outcome of research on concrete and textiles carried out with the company Betonform©, based in Gais, Southtyrol, specialised in concrete products.
Created from individual strips of concrete canvas, these outdoor chairs offer a remarkably uncomplicated production process – the canvas, immersed in concrete powder, is placed onto an existing wooden frame while damp, then allowed to naturally dry. This production technique draws inspiration from the process of doing laundry, Italian "bucato". The result is a playful hybrid which combines the strenght of concrete to the lightness of textile.
[Production process at Betonform. The wooden frame can be assembled and disassembled easily, to be extracted and reused. It’s partly cnc milled and lasercut]
